Our Founders
Whilst many graduates and tertiary enrollees hanker for that quintessential job or GPA, young entrepreneurs, Jason Lindsay and Sasha Williams forged their passions for education, mentorship and philanthropy into creating the Lindsa Foundation. Framed by a unique aspect of Jamaican culture, the Foundation aspires to replicate the cycle of gifting upon which many of our community ecosystems have been shouldered. This societal tradition of nurturing and supporting our youth has produced virtuous and multifaceted citizens who have augmented the nation’s presence on the world stage.
Humble Beginnings
Established in October 2016, the focus was initially placed on the parish of Portland, the birthplace of Jason and Siddoney. The Lindsa Foundation launched its first community project in the district of Kensington in December 2016. This venture sought to uplift the neighbourhood youth through the medium of sports, more specifically football. This avenue helped foster greater unity and awareness as patrons littered the Kensington Football Field in support of their favourite team from home and neighbouring communities. In order to bridge the gap between school, home and society at large, the founders avidly believe that community partnership is integral. Multilateral partnerships is key to amplifying our platform as shareholders combine their efforts in creating more inclusive educational experiences for the less fortunate.
Withstanding the meager resources, the founders were inspired to challenge themselves to provide relief for the Eastern parishes of Jamaica, namely: Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland. With exiguous pockets, big hearts and an even broader vision the foundation hopes to span their reach to all fourteen (14) parishes by 2022.
Present Day
Currently the organization boasts membership of seventeen consisting of individuals within the local and international diaspora. All hands are on deck as we champion our first campaign “Drive to One Million’. Funds raised will be dispersed to primary, secondary and tertiary students in the form of supplies and bursaries. Join us on our mission as we empower Jamaica, one youth at a time.
